Price Increase in Greater Buenos Aires

Prices of beef cuts have increased significantly in Greater Buenos Aires, leading the inflation rate of February, which was 2.4% nationwide. The rump had the highest increase at 13.6%.

According to the Indec measurement for February, significant price increases have been recorded in Greater Buenos Aires, especially in beef cuts. The sirloin was the product with the highest increase, rising by 13.6% compared to January, followed by the rump (13.1%), the shoulder (12.6%), and the regular minced meat (11.3%).

In addition to meat, other products that experienced significant increases were oranges, with a rise of 12.8%, ground coffee (7%), and champagne (4.8%). On the other hand, decreases were recorded in the price of round tomatoes (-18.4%), butternut squash (-12.5%), and lemons (-25.3%), the latter due to a higher seasonal supply.

Nationally, February inflation reached 2.4%. In the category of food and non-alcoholic beverages, the increase was 3.2%, with notable increases in meats and derivatives reaching 7.6%. Year-on-year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has accumulated a rise of 66.9%.

Regarding baked goods, table bread increased by 3.1%, while French baguette-style bread rose by 1.9%. Among the products that experienced a reduction in prices were plain white rice, which fell by -8.2%, and fresh hake fillet, which decreased by -1.4%.
